The crowd at Friday's non-league contest between the Newton County Academy Generals (Decatur, MS) and the visiting Calhoun Academy Cougars (Calhoun City, MS), witnessed Newton County Academy's football squad knock off Calhoun Academy by a tally of 42-12.

The Generals (5-2) will now prepare for their contest against Deer Creek (Arcola, MS). The Warriors enter the MAIS 8-Man 2A District 2 (8 Man) contest with a 1-4 record. In their last contest, Deer Creek was outscored by DeSoto (West Helena, AR), 42-0, in a non-league contest.

Coming up next, the Cougars battle the Hebron Christian Eagles (Pheba, MS) in a MAIS 8-Man 1A District 1 (8 Man) contest, on Friday, October 4. Calhoun Academy will attempt to better on its 2-4 season record. The Eagles enter the contest with a 1-5 record after their 44-6 league loss to Lee Academy (Marianna, AR).
