In Thursday's league battle, the host East Burke Cavaliers volleyball team scored a tight 3-2 triumph over the Newton-Conover Red Devils.

The Cavaliers (8-11) will now prepare for their battle against Bunker Hill (Claremont, NC). The Bears come into the Catawba Valley Athletic 2A battle with a 3-11 record. In their last battle, Bunker Hill nudged West Lincoln (Lincolnton, NC), 3-2, in a league battle.
