The Boone Central/Newman Grove Cardinals nipped the visiting Pierce Bluejays softball squad by a final score of 6-5 in Saturday's non-league battle.

The Cardinals (4-7) will now prepare for their battle against Polk County (Stromsburg, NE). The Slammers enter the non-league challenge with a 8-3 record. In their last challenge, Polk County was nipped by St. Paul (St. Paul, NE), 7-5, in a non-league challenge.

With the loss, Pierce falls to 4-10 on the campaign. The Bluejays travel to Centura-Central Valley (Cairo, NE) to battle the Diamonds in a non-league challenge on Saturday, September 3. The Diamonds enter the challenge with a record of 3-7. Centura-Central Valley lost 6-5 in their recent league challenge against St. Paul (St. Paul, NE)
