Match Summary
The Chargers ended the day at the Manteno Early Bird Invite in the third place match against a strong Watseka team. The Chargers were up 12-10 when a Watseka scoring run put them up 17-12. The Chargers didn't get down and kept chipping away at the lead until a 4 point serving run by Alyssa Boren put the Chargers up 23-20. After Watseka tied the set at 24, the Chargers got a side out and finished on a good serve by Kelsey Bruns to take the first set 26-24. The second set was close, with both teams getting a couple point advantages only to have the other team come back and tie or go ahead. Watseka was able to gain the advantage late and took the second set 25-20. In a third set to 15, the Chargers started with the first two points, but then Watseka jumped out to a 10-2 lead. The Chargers battled back, but couldn't make up the difference and dropped the third set and match 10-15. The Chargers ended in 4th place out of 8 teams. Sofia Biesterfeld was named to the All Tournament team.
