September 5, 2023: Sumter, SC 29154 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league bout between the Sumter Gamecocks (Sumter, SC) and the visiting South Florence Bruins (Florence, SC), saw Sumter's volleyball squad beat South Florence by a tally of 2-0.
With the win, Sumter upgrades its record to 9-1 on the year. The Gamecocks host Socastee (Myrtle Beach, SC) to play the Braves in a AAAAA Region 5 bout on Thursday, September 7. The Bruins now own a 0-11 record. They play next when they travel to Wilson Hall for a non-league bout on Tuesday, September 5. South Florence will play a Barons squad coming off a 3-1 non-league win over Heathwood Hall Episcopal (Columbia, SC). The Barons record now stands at 11-0.
