Mississippi High School Football - DeSoto trounced by Humphreys Academy
September 5, 2025: Belzoni, MS 39038 Humphreys Academy Rebels (Belzoni, MS) followers went home pleased Friday as they saw their football team triumph over the visiting DeSoto Thunderbirds (West Helena, AR), 52-16 in a non-league match.
The Rebels (3-0) will now prepare for their match against Newton County Academy (Decatur, MS). The Generals enter the non-league match with a 3-0 record. In their last match, Newton County Academy routed Christ Covenant (Ridgeland, MS), 36-22, in a non-league match.
Coming up next, the Thunderbirds confront the Lee Academy Cougars (Marianna, AR) in a MAIS 8-Man 2A District 5 (8 Man) match, on Friday, September 12. DeSoto will attempt to upgrade on its 2-1 season record. The Cougars enter the match with a 0-2 record after their 36-0 non-league loss to Benton Academy (Benton, MS).
