California High School Football - Downey tops Merced

September 5, 2025: Modesto, CA 95355

The Downey Knights football squad scored 18 points and limited the visiting Merced Bears to 6 in the Knights non-league triumph on Friday.

The Knights now sport a 3-0 record. They take the field next when they travel to Amador Valley for a non-league challenge on Friday, September 12. Downey will meet a Dons squad coming off a 36-36 non-league Monterey Trail (Elk Grove, CA). The Dons record now stands at 0-1.

With the defeat, Merced drops to 2-1 on the campaign. The Bears host Madera (Madera, CA) to meet the Coyotes in a non-league test on Friday, September 19. The Coyotes enter the challenge with a record of 0-1.
