The Ottawa Pirates softball team scored 5 runs and limited the visiting Dixon Dukes & Duchesses to 4 in the Pirates league triumph on Friday.

With the triumph, Ottawa improves its record to 4-0 on the year. The Pirates travel to LaSalle-Peru (LaSalle, IL) to clash with the Cavaliers in a NCIC - Northeast game on Tuesday, May 6. The Cavaliers come into the game with a record of 1-2.

In their next game, the Dukes & Duchesses clash with the Winnebago Indians (Winnebago, IL) in a non-league game, on Saturday, May 3. Dixon will attempt to improve on its 6-13 season record.

The Duchesses rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the top of the 7th to tie the Lady Pirates 4-4. Dixon could not capitalize with runners in scoring position and Ottawa managed to score in the bottom to steal the win. For the Duchesses (5-13, 0-6), Beccah Jones walked 2 and struck out 4 in the loss. Kari Wolfe doubled and tripled with an RBI, Haley Fitzsimmons tripled, Smith singled twice, Bay singled twice with an RBI, Daytona Geesey singled, and Bre Grobe added an RBI.
