Spectators at Thursday's league match between the Monticello Sages (Monticello, IL) and the visiting Rantoul Eagles (Rantoul, IL), witnessed Monticello's softball squad prevail over Rantoul by a count of 12-2.

The Sages now sport a 11-12 record. They play next when they travel to St. Teresa for a non-league match on Monday, May 2. Monticello will face a Bulldogs squad coming off a 24-1 non-league loss to Maroa-Forsyth (Maroa, IL). The Bulldogs record now stands at 1-1.

With the loss, Rantoul moves to 2-6 on the season. The Eagles travel to St. Joseph-Ogden (St. Joseph, IL) to face the Spartans in a Sangamon Valley test on Thursday, May 5. The Spartans enter the test with a record of 4-3.
