Spectators at Monday's non-league match between the Teutopolis Wooden Shoes (Teutopolis, IL) and the host Salem Wildcats (Salem, IL), witnessed Teutopolis's softball squad tip Salem by a score of 5-2.

The Wildcats (0-3) will now prepare for their outing against Odin (Odin, IL). The Eagles enter the non-league outing with a 0-0 record.

Our bats remained as cold as the weather & our defense wasn't any better, as T-Town jumped us with 5 runs in the first 2 innings & we never made a serious run at them. 4 of their 5 first hitters reached in the 1st, 3 on hits, as they scored 3 runs. After 2 were out in the 2nd, their leadoff batter beat out a bunt single, stole 2nd, & came all the way home as the throw caromed into short right center. The next hitter singled to left & came all the way home after the ball scooted under the leftfielder's glove for a 3 base error. That would be the last hit T-Town would get the rest of the game, as Daniels settled in & took advantage of a generous strike zone to hold them scoreless the remainder of the game. We did get a little offense going & scored 2 runs on Kelly Sager's 2 run single in the 3rd. She would get our only hit the remainder of the game as our bats remained in the deep freeze. Mallory Daniels had our other hit & scored a run.
