Floyd Central Highlanders (Floyds Knobs, IN) supporters were pleased Tuesday as they observed their soccer team hold off the visiting Jasper Wildcats (Jasper, IN), 1-0 in a non-league challenge.

Next, the Highlanders confront the Ballard Bruins (Louisville, KY) in a non-league challenge, on Wednesday, September 4. Floyd Central will attempt to move on its 1-5 season record. The Bruins enter the challenge with a 5-2 record after their 2-1 non-league loss to DuPont Manual (Louisville, KY).

The Wildcats now possess a 2-2 record. They take the field next when they host New Albany for a non-league challenge on Saturday, September 7. Jasper will confront a Bulldogs team coming off a 1-1 league Bedford North Lawrence (Bedford, IN). The Bulldogs record now stands at 4-2.

Floyd Central found the net in the 17th minute for the game’s only goal. The Highlanders put pressure on the Jasper defense throughout the first half, but the defense kept the Cats in the game. Some halftime adjustments gave Jasper some added possession and offensive opportunities in the second half, but the Cats couldn’t break through with the equalizer.
