Whiting Oilers (Whiting, IN) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting Calumet New Tech Warriors (Gary, IN), 10-4 in a league challenge.

The Oilers now own a 2-5 record. They take the field next when they travel to Pioneer for a non-league challenge on Saturday, April 23.

With the loss, Calumet New Tech falls to 0-7 on the campaign. The Warriors host Hammond Academy of Science & Tech (Hammond, IN) to battle the Hawks in a non-league challenge on Friday, April 22. The Hawks enter the challenge with a record of 0-3. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech lost 25-0 in their recent league challenge against Calumet Christian (Griffith, IN)
