Emilio Morales has been named player of the year. "Emilio led our team in almost every statistical category. His season-averages consist of: 14 points; 8 rebounds; 3 assists; 3 steals; & 2 blocks. Morales shot a solid 44% from 2-point range on the season. He is formerly amongst the top 100 players in the United States for blocks per game. Emilio had a dominating performance in our win against Nordhoff, who won their League this year, by getting 13 points, 8 boards, 6 assists, 7 steals, & 3 blocks. He also had a remarkable game against playoff-qualifier, Cabrillo, with 15 points, 14 boards, & 7 assists. Morales had 25 points, 12 boards, & 6 blocks in our 1st game against Santa Paula, who was also a playoff-qualifying team this year. He had a big-time, double-double game, with 21 points & 10 boards, against another playoff-qualifying team, St. Bonaventure. Emilio had 15 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, & 6 steals in our 1st game against playoff-qualifier, Rio Mesa. He turned-around with 23 points, 8 boards, 5 assists, 3 steals, & 6 big blocks in our 2nd game with Rio Mesa. Morales had 7 games where he had a double-double, with points & rebounds this year, & 8 total games where he reached double-digits in rebounds. He was selected to the All-Tournament Teams at Nordhoff High School & Granite Hills High School. Emilio is a First-Team All Pacific View League Selection. Morales is also a Second-Team All Ventura County Team Selection. Coach Garrett quotes, "Emilio is a very gifted athlete, & he utilized his talents to do some outstanding things on the floor to help us. His game has developed into a well-rounded one, & the stats are a definite reflection of that. Emilio really worked hard to improve his perimeter skills, which was such an advantage for us because that made it very difficult for teams to match-up against him. The best thing that happened with Emilio was his conscious decision to make some positive adjustments both mentally & emotionally, so that he could allow himself to improve. He will definitely be missed next year.""
