Paul Climenti has been named player of the year. "Paul is without argument the best overall defensive player for the Custer Wildcats in 2013. Although he was surrounded by a classy group of fellow athletes, such as Kenneth Myers, Clayton Wahlstrom, David Sigdestad, and Logan Heuer, he still led the team in tackles with 94. He had six tackles for losses. Most impressive was that he average 9.4 tackles per game, which ranks in the top 20 percent within the Black Hills Conference - Crazy Horse Division. On the field, he was a motivator for the team and definitely was a focus of attention by his opponents. Furthermore, he was a physical player, which is needed on the defensive side of the ball. Off the field, he worked hard at practices and mentored younger players about the game, calls, and striving for greatness. As compared to many high school "stars," Paul certainly understood the concept of the next generation of players ... helping to craft the 2014 season in positive form."
