In Thursday's non-league game, the Vela Sabercats (Edinburg, TX) football team knocked off the visiting Edinburg Bobcats (Edinburg, TX), by a score of 45-24.

The Sabercats (2-0) will now prepare for their game against Weslaco East (Weslaco, TX). The Wildcats come into the non-league game with a 1-1 record. In their last game, Weslaco East toppled Pharr-San Juan-Alamo (San Juan, TX), 32-29, in a non-league game.

The Bobcats now sport a 0-2 record. They take the field next when they travel to Weslaco for a non-league game on Friday, September 8. Edinburg will battle a Panthers team coming off a 24-6 non-league win over Harlingen South (Harlingen, TX). The Panthers record now stands at 2-0.
