The Chaparral Firebirds (Scottsdale, AZ) basketball knocked off the visiting Mountain Ridge Mountain Lions (Glendale, AZ), 64-50 in Thursday's league test.

The Firebirds (6-18) will now prepare for their test against Liberty (Peoria, AZ). The Lions go into the 6A Desert Valley test with a 17-7 record. In their last test, Liberty notched a victory over Boulder Creek (Anthem, AZ), 72-63, in a league test.

The Mountain Lions now own a 9-15 record. They play next when they host O'Connor for a 6A Desert Valley test on Tuesday, February 8. Mountain Ridge will encounter a Eagles squad coming off a 63-62 league loss to Pinnacle (Phoenix, AZ). The Eagles record now stands at 10-14.
