West Iron County Wykons (Iron River, MI) backers were in high spirits Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad tip the visiting Menominee Maroons (Menominee, MI), 45-42 in a non-league bout.

With the win, West Iron County upgrades its record to 6-4 on the season. The Wykons host Ishpeming (Ishpeming, MI) to play the Hematites in a Mid-Peninsula bout on Monday, January 16. The Hematites go into the bout with a record of 3-4. Ishpeming lost 47-38 in their recent league bout against Negaunee (Negaunee, MI)

Next up, the Maroons play the Escanaba Eskymos (Escanaba, MI) in a Great Northern U.P. bout, on Monday, January 16. Menominee will attempt to upgrade on its 3-7 season record. The Eskymos go into the bout with a 11-0 record after their 50-49 non-league win over Hancock (Hancock, MI).
