In Friday's non-league game, the Melissa Cardinals (Melissa, TX) football team smashed the visiting Royse City Bulldogs (Royse City, TX), by a final score of 39-7.

The Cardinals (3-0) will now prepare for their game against Crandall (Crandall, TX). The Pirates come into the 5A-2 Region II District 7 game with a 2-1 record. In their last game, Crandall overwhelmed Jacksonville (Jacksonville, TX), 49-17, in a non-league game.

The Bulldogs now hold a 2-1 record. They take the field next when they host Bowie for a non-league game on Friday, September 15. Royse City will battle a Volunteers team coming off a 35-34 non-league loss to Plano (Plano, TX). The Volunteers record now stands at 1-2.
