Iowa High School Basketball - Mt. Vernon thwarts Xavier
January 8, 2022: Mt. Vernon, IA 52314 The Mt. Vernon Mustangs (Mt. Vernon, IA) basketball knocked off the visiting Xavier Saints (Cedar Rapids, IA), 61-52 in Saturday's non-league test.
The Mustangs (5-4) will now prepare for their test against Beckman (Dyersville, IA). The Trailblazers go into the WAMAC - East test with a 6-3 record. In their last test, Beckman went down by Solon (Solon, IA), 54-43, in a league test.
The Saints now own a 5-4 record. They play next when they host Dubuque Senior for a Mississippi Valley test on Tuesday, January 11. Xavier will encounter a Rams squad coming off a 85-52 league loss to Kennedy (Cedar Rapids, IA). The Rams record now stands at 2-4.
