In Friday's league match, the host Independence Wildcats football squad scored a close 30-28 victory over the Rosa Fort Lions.

In their next game, the Wildcats clash with the North Panola Cougars (Sardis, MS) in a 3A Region 2 match, on Friday, October 13. Independence will attempt to move on its 5-2 season record. The Cougars enter the match with a 3-4 record after their 32-14 league win over Coahoma County (Clarksdale, MS).
