We had a great chance to go ahead in the 33rd min. when Aaliyah and Jalee jockeyed for position and control of the orb inside their 18; Jalee took the try but saw the ball sail over the crossbar. A rebound of a Florida High free kick resulted in a long, high return that was just beyond Lidia's outstretched arm with 3 min. gone in the second half. Their lead held for about 12 min. until Ariana M's corner kick found Aaliyah and Ali scrambling for the ball in front of the far post. They may have actually shared the goal as they both appeared to nudge the ball over the line. Ali insisted that Aaliyah get credit for it, while she and Ariana each earned the assist. We had one final chance with 10 minutes remaining: Ari Mango's perfect corner kick found Ali's noggin—but the winning goal bounded over the crossbar, dang it. Our back line performed well, and Lidia displayed her tenacity in scrambling turf-ward to grab several shots that would have put us in a deeper hole, ending with 5 saves.
