The Independence football team (Ashburn, VA), was beaten 53-42 in Thursday's non-league challenge with the visiting Skyline Hawks (Front Royal, VA)

The Hawks (1-0) will now prepare for their challenge against Broadway (Broadway, VA). The Gobblers come into the non-league challenge with a 0-1 record. In their last challenge, Broadway was beaten by Fluvanna County (Palmyra, VA), 29-13, in a non-league challenge.

The now sport a 0-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Freedom for a non-league challenge on Friday, September 6. Independence will meet a Eagles team coming off a 14-6 league loss to Rock Ridge (Ashburn, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 0-1.
