The El Capitan Gauchos basketball team scored 62 points and restricted the visiting Merced Bears to 58 in the Gauchos league victory on Wednesday.

The Gauchos now sport a 14-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Buhach Colony for a Central California Conference contest on Friday, January 26. El Capitan will battle a Thunder team coming off a 78-51 league loss to Golden Valley (Merced, CA). The Thunder record now stands at 8-15.

The Bears (12-12) will now prepare for their contest against Central Valley (Ceres, CA). The Hawks come into the Central California Conference contest with a 5-18 record. In their last contest, Central Valley was nudged by Patterson (Patterson, CA), 61-43, in a league bout.
