Florida High School Volleyball - St. Joseph nudged by Florida School for the Deaf
September 27, 2011: St. Augustine, FL 32084 The St. Joseph Flashes volleyball team (St. Augustine, FL), was nudged 3-2 in Tuesday's league challenge with the host Florida School for the Deaf Dragons (St. Augustine, FL)
The Dragons (2-8) will now prepare for their battle against St. Johns Country Day (Orange Park, FL). The Spartans come into the 3A District 3 battle with a 3-6 record.
Next, the Flashes clash with the St. Francis Catholic Wolves (Gainesville, FL) in a 3A District 3 battle, on Tuesday, October 11. St. Joseph will attempt to advance on its 2-5 season record.
Match Summary
Wow…I said earlier in the season that I was looking forward to playing St. Joe again and boy was it a great night in the gym! We took St. Joe to five games for the first time ever in the nine years that I’ve been coaching when we played them the first week of the season and tonight, we beat them in five games! I also told the girls in the first game against St. Joe that beating St. Joe would hold more meaning than winning the Mason-Dixon Tournament and tonight they felt what that was like. St. Joe has always been our crosstown rival and we have played them even when they haven’t been in our District. What a feeling to finally be able to win a match against them.
The girls worked hard, played well as a team, and never gave up! We had to switch our offense from a 6-2 to a 5-1 without practice tonight because one of setters, Robin Spigner was sick.
