New Jersey High School Softball - Wallington nudges Rutherford
May 9, 2024: Rutherford, NJ 07070 Wallington Panthers (Wallington, NJ) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the host Rutherford Bulldogs (Rutherford, NJ), 2-1 in a non-league challenge.
The Panthers now own a 17-3 record. They take the field next when they host Wood-Ridge for a NJIC - Meadowlands challenge on Friday, May 10. Wallington will face a Blue Devils squad coming off a 13-2 league win over Garfield (Garfield, NJ). The Blue Devils record now stands at 7-11.
With the loss, Rutherford falls to 13-4 on the campaign. The Bulldogs host Secaucus (Secaucus, NJ) to face the Patriots in a NJIC - National challenge on Friday, May 10. The Patriots enter the challenge with a record of 3-12. Secaucus won 16-2 in their recent non-league challenge against Snyder (Jersey City, NJ)
