The Merkel Badgers football squad scored 26 points and restricted the visiting Clifton Cubs to 14 in the Badgers non-league victory on Friday.

The Badgers now possess a 1-0 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Stanton for a non-league battle on Friday, September 1. Merkel will face a Buffaloes squad coming off a 42-6 non-league win over Grape Creek (San Angelo, TX). The Buffaloes record now stands at 1-0.

Coming up next, the Cubs face the Rio Vista Eagles (Rio Vista, TX) in a non-league battle, on Friday, September 1. Clifton will attempt to advance on its 0-1 season record. The Eagles enter the battle with a 0-1 record after their 40-13 non-league loss to Dawson (Dawson, TX).
