Vel Phillips Memorial Spartans (Madison, WI) backers were in high spirits Tuesday as they witnessed their basketball squad bounce the visiting Janesville Craig Cougars (Janesville, WI), 68-46 in a league bout.

With the win, Vel Phillips Memorial upgrades its record to 12-9 on the season. The Spartans host Sun Prairie West (Sun Prairie, WI) to play the Wolves in a Big Eight bout on Thursday, February 8. The Wolves go into the bout with a record of 7-11. Sun Prairie West lost 60-54 in their recent league bout against Madison East (Madison, WI)

Next up, the Cougars play the Madison La Follette Lancers (Madison, WI) in a Big Eight bout, on Friday, February 9. Janesville Craig will attempt to upgrade on its 9-13 season record. The Lancers go into the bout with a 11-7 record after their 73-43 league loss to Verona (Verona, WI).
