New Mexico High School Basketball - Thoreau nips Tohatchi
February 5, 2022: Tohatchi, NM 87325 Fans at Saturday's league challenge between the Thoreau Hawks (Thoreau, NM) and the host Tohatchi Cougars (Tohatchi, NM), saw Thoreau's basketball squad hold off Tohatchi by a tally of 70-68.
With the victory, Thoreau improves its record to 9-13 on the campaign. The Hawks host Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM) to play the Eagles in a 3A District 1 challenge on Monday, February 7. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 11-7. Navajo Prep won 60-32 in their recent league challenge against Zuni (Zuni, NM)
Next up, the Cougars play the Newcomb Skyhawks (Newcomb, NM) in a 3A District 1 challenge, on Tuesday, February 8. Tohatchi will attempt to improve on its 9-13 season record. The Skyhawks come into the challenge with a 13-8 record after their 89-77 league win over Thoreau (Thoreau, NM).
