Belmont Cardinals (Belmont, MS) backers exited the stadium thrilled Thursday as they saw their softball squad nip the visiting New Site Royals (New Site, MS), 6-1 in a league challenge.

The Cardinals now own a 10-7 record. They play next when they travel to Walnut for a 2A Region 1 match on Tuesday, April 5. Belmont will face a Wildcats squad coming off a 13-3 non-league loss to Myrtle (Myrtle, MS). The Wildcats record now stands at 9-11.

With the loss, New Site moves to 4-10 on the season. The Royals host Mantachie (Mantachie, MS) to face the Mustangs in a non-league match on Saturday, April 2. The Mustangs go into the match with a record of 15-4. Mantachie won 2-0 in their recent league match against Booneville (Booneville, MS)
