Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) and the visiting Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA), saw Bland County's basketball squad hold off Wythe by a tally of 52-48.

With the victory, Bland County improves its record to 9-10 on the campaign. The Bears travel to Galax (Galax, VA) to confront the Maroon Tide in a Mountain Empire challenge on Friday, February 11. The Maroon Tide come into the challenge with a record of 6-10. Galax lost 30-23 in their recent league challenge against Grayson County (Independence, VA)

Next up, the Maroons confront the Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA) in a Mountain Empire challenge, on Friday, February 11. Wythe will attempt to advance on its 11-7 season record. The Eagles go into the test with a 14-5 record after their 68-16 league win over Giles (Pearisburg, VA).
