Bland County Bears (Rocky Gap, VA) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA), 41-30 in a league bout.

With the victory, Bland County upgrades its record to 3-2 on the campaign. The Bears travel to Eastern Montgomery (Elliston, VA) to play the Mustangs in a non-league bout on Monday, December 13. The Mustangs come into the bout with a record of 0-2.

Next up, the Spartans play the Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) in a Mountain Empire bout, on Tuesday, December 14. Giles will attempt to upgrade on its 0-5 season record. The Maroons come into the bout with a 3-3 record after their 45-39 non-league win over Holston (Damascus, VA).
