September 8, 2012: Colorado Springs, CO 80911 The Coronado Cougars (Colorado Springs, CO) volleyball overcame the host Mesa Ridge Grizzlies (Colorado Springs, CO), 2-0 in Saturday's non-league outing.
With the win, Coronado upgrades its record to 6-1 on the year. The Cougars host Elizabeth (Elizabeth, CO) to confront the Cardinals in a non-league test on Saturday, September 8. The Cardinals enter the test with a record of 1-0. Elizabeth won 3-2 in their recent non-league test against Thomas Jefferson (Denver, CO)
The Grizzlies (2-1) will now prepare for their test against Doherty (Colorado Springs, CO). The Spartans enter the non-league test with a 3-0 record. In their last test, Doherty gained a win over Heritage (Littleton, CO), 3-0, in a non-league test.
Match Summary
Although we started the match very slow we finished extremely strong. The match showed what our girls can do and how they can fight their way back. We had a 10-25 lost in the first set and lost the second set 24-26. Our serves continue to be a strength with very few service errors. Tiffani Jackson was our strongest server earning 5 points while Jordan Hoffman had our only ace for the match. Sarabeth Haworth and Grace Neal both had 7 kills for us and both were key factors in our defense. Breanna Moorhouse was also a key factor on defense with 14 digs.
