Illinois High School Basketball - Rock Island holds off Geneseo
January 22, 2011: Rock Island, IL 61201 Rock Island Rocks (Rock Island, IL) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Geneseo Maple Leafs (Geneseo, IL), 39-35 in a non-league bout.
With the victory, Rock Island upgrades its record to 14-6 on the campaign. The Rocks host Moline (Moline, IL) to play the Maroons in a Western Big 6 bout on Thursday, January 27. The Maroons come into the bout with a record of 12-11. Moline won 51-28 in their recent non-league bout against Boylan (Rockford, IL)
Next up, the Maple Leafs play the Streator Bulldogs (Streator, IL) in a Northern Illinois Big 12 bout, on Thursday, January 27. Geneseo will attempt to upgrade on its 11-4 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 2-18 record after their 46-26 non-league win over Dwight (Dwight, IL).
