August 20, 2019: Flora, IN 46929 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league bout between the Carroll Cougars (Flora, IN) and the visiting Caston Comets (Fulton, IN), saw Carroll's volleyball squad beat Caston by a tally of 3-1.
With the win, Carroll upgrades its record to 1-0 on the year. The Cougars travel to Rossville (Rossville, IN) to play the Hornets in a Hoosier Heartland bout on Thursday, August 22. The Hornets go into the bout with a record of 0-2. Rossville lost 3-2 in their recent non-league bout against Frankfort (Frankfort, IN)
The Comets now own a 0-2 record. They play next when they host Culver Community for a Hoosier North contest on Thursday, August 22. Caston will battle a Cavaliers squad coming off a 3-0 non-league loss to Oregon-Davis (Hamlet, IN). The Cavaliers record now stands at 0-1.
Match Summary
Poor passing, serving, and communication all on the same night resulted in a lack luster effort by the Carroll Cougars. K. Hammond never missed a serve, the only Cougar server, other than J. Seward, that can make that statement. J. Seward came on to play well. M. McMains provided some timely offense.
The Comets, who played well in stretches, were unable to take advantage of serving errors by the Carroll Cougars.
