California High School Soccer - Castilleja can't get by Woodside Priory
January 24, 2012: Palo Alto, CA 94301 In Tuesday's league game, the Woodside Priory Panthers (Portola Valley, CA) soccer squad tipped the host Castilleja Gators (Palo Alto, CA), by a final score of 2-1.
The Panthers (4-1) will now prepare for their game against Sacred Heart Prep (Atherton, CA). The Gators go into the WBAL - Foothill game with a 7-2 record. In their last game, Sacred Heart Prep nipped Notre Dame (San Jose, CA), 4-0, in a league game.
The Gators (1-8) will now prepare for their game against Mercy (Burlingame, CA). The Crusaders go into the WBAL - Foothill game with a 2-10 record. In their last game, Mercy was nudged by King's Academy (Sunnyvale, CA), 3-0, in a league game.
Game Summary
Woodside Priory scored two in the first on a cross in the 34th minute and a free kick by Shields. In the second minute of the second half, Castilleja answered when Hobbs sent a ball to Colvin at mid-field. Colvin dribbled up the left side and scored a crossing shot across the goal mouth far post. Castilleja just missed in the 62nd minute when Kaplan sent a ball from the endline to Mosbacher who crossed to Hobbs. Three minutes Mosbacher nearly scored on a Colvin corner and the Gators continued to pressure but were unable to convert and the match ended 2-1.
