Arizona High School Soccer - Yuma ripped by Kofa
December 11, 2009: Yuma, AZ 85364 In Friday's league battle, the visiting Kofa Kings soccer squad scored a nice 9-0 triumph over the Yuma Criminals.
The Kings (8-0) will now prepare for their battle against Cibola (Yuma, AZ). The Raiders come into the 5A Gila Valley battle with a 2-1 record.
The Criminals (2-2) will now prepare for their battle against Lake Havasu (Lake Havasu City, AZ). The Knights come into the 4A West Valley battle with a 3-4 record. In their last battle, Lake Havasu notched a victory over River Valley (Mohave Valley, AZ), 4-1, in a non-league battle.
First Half
Sophomore sensation CJ Carr got the Kings off to a fast start as Kofa traveled to Yuma High. Carr scored twice in 13 minutes as the Kings rolled over the Criminals 9-0. Marcos Garcia had 2 assists in the first half the first was a picture perfect cross to Carr, the other was a give and go to Jose Medina to put the ball squarly into the back of the net. Juan Guiza had an assist on a corner kick that was put into the back of the net by a Yuma defender who attempted to clear the ball away. The Kings were sloppy towards the end of the first half and earned a stern warning from Head Coach Jamie Nicewander.
Second Half
The second half was the Marcos Garcia show, with him netting 2 goals as well as controlling the midfield for the Kings. CJ Carr picked up a hat trick for the Kings scoring in the 26th minute. Guiza and Medina picked up goals for the Kings. Kofa had several post shots this evening as many of the Kings were just inches away from netting goals of their own. The Kings return to action Monday night against the Cibola Raiders at 7p.m.
