February 27, 2009: Mount Dora, FL 32757 Spectators at Friday's non-league match between the Mount Dora Bible Bulldogs (Mount Dora, FL) and the visiting Ocoee Knights (Ocoee, FL), witnessed Mount Dora Bible's softball squad tip Ocoee by a count of 5-0.
The Bulldogs now sport a 7-2 record. They play next when they host Orangewood Christian for a 2A District 7 match on Tuesday, March 3. Mount Dora Bible will face a Rams squad coming off a 4-3 non-league loss to Trinity Prep (Winter Park, FL). The Rams record now stands at 0-1.
With the loss, Ocoee moves to 0-1 on the season. The Knights host Timber Creek (Orlando, FL) to face the Wolves in a non-league match on Monday, March 2. The Wolves go into the match with a record of 4-0. Timber Creek won 10-0 in their recent league match against Olympia (Orlando, FL)
Game Summary
Brittany Stone pitched a 2-hitter with 7 strikouts and Chelsea Emery hit a 2-run double in the first inning to pace Mount Dora Bible to a 5-0 win over 6A Ocoee. Melanie Spicola singled in the first along with a walk to Jessica Gipson and a sacrifice by Kristina Pazienza and then Emery followed with her double to the left-center field gap. 3 wild pitches lef to 3 more runs in the bottom of the first to account for all of the scoring. Stone added the other Bulldog hit in the 7th inning. Devin Crabb had a triple in the 6th and was the only Ocoee runner to get past first base. The Bulldogs raised their regular season record to 5 - 2 and will host Orangewood Christian next Tuesday @6PM in a district game.
