December 29, 2009: Pilot Mountain, NC 27041 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the East Surry Cardinals (Pilot Mountain, NC) and the visiting West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC), saw East Surry's basketball squad trounce West Wilkes by a score of 59-33.
With the victory, East Surry improves its record to 5-3 on the campaign. The Cardinals travel to North Stokes (Danbury, NC) to battle the in a 2A/1A Conference 15 challenge on Saturday, January 2. The come into the challenge with a record of 6-6. North Stokes lost 61-52 in their recent non-league challenge against North Wilkes (Hays, NC)
Next up, the Blackhawks battle the Ashe County Huskies (West Jefferson, NC) in a 2A/1A Conference 16 challenge, on Tuesday, January 5. West Wilkes will attempt to improve on its 0-7 season record. The Huskies come into the challenge with a 7-2 record after their 68-63 non-league win over Volunteer (Church Hill, TN).
