Martinsville Pirates (Martinsville, TX) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Gary Bobcats (Gary, TX), 39-32 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Martinsville upgrades its record to 1-0 on the campaign. The Pirates travel to Hudson (Lufkin, TX) to play the Hornets in a non-league bout on Thursday, November 30. The Hornets come into the bout with a record of 1-1.

Next up, the Bobcats play the Woden Eagles (Woden, TX) in a non-league bout, on Friday, November 10. Gary will attempt to upgrade on its 0-2 season record. The Eagles come into the bout with a 1-1 record after their 57-2 non-league win over Elysian Fields (Elysian Fields, TX).
