In Thursday's non-league match, the visiting Vinton Lions football squad scored a close 21-18 victory over the Merryville Panthers.

In their next game, the Lions clash with the Westlake Rams (Westlake, LA) in a non-league match, on Friday, September 16. Vinton will attempt to move on its 1-0 season record. The Rams enter the match with a 2-1 record after their 29-12 non-league loss to Welsh (Welsh, LA).

The Panthers (1-1) will now prepare for their match against LaSalle (Olla, LA). The Tigers enter the non-league match with a 2-0 record. In their last match, LaSalle held off Sicily Island (Sicily Island, LA), 48-0, in a non-league match.
