Nevada High School Basketball - Cimarron-Memorial over Boulder City
January 24, 2024: Las Vegas, NV 89128 Fans at Wednesday's non-league challenge between the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans (Las Vegas, NV) and the visiting Boulder City Eagles (Boulder City, NV), saw Cimarron-Memorial's basketball squad overcome Boulder City by a tally of 58-38.
With the victory, Cimarron-Memorial improves its record to 5-11 on the campaign. The Spartans host Shadow Ridge (Las Vegas, NV) to play the Mustangs in a challenge on Monday, January 29. The Mustangs come into the challenge with a record of 13-3.
Next up, the Eagles play the Pahrump Valley Trojans (Pahrump, NV) in a challenge, on Wednesday, February 7. Boulder City will attempt to improve on its 1-2 season record.
First Quarter
The 1st Quarter the Spartans struggle to make shots, but excellent rebounding from their Center Rashad Moore, & solid defense kept the game close with Boulder City leading 10 to 5.
Second Quarter
The 2nd Quarter was sparked by Forward Chazmier Floyd & his 2 baskets that were much needed. the Spartans outscored Boulder city 15 to 10, & the score was tied 20 to 20 at half time.
Third Quarter
In the 3rd Quarter Coach Shkorupa inserted Guard Waco Pedroza who opened the Quarter hitting a 3 Point shot on a pass from Point Guard Mahshad Jordan. Waco had 2 more 3 Pointers along with 2 more from Guard Joseph Noel. The Spartans outscored Boulder City 21 to 11 for their best scoring Quarter of the Season.
Fourth Quarter
In the 4th Quarter the Spartans outscored Boulder City 17 to 7 % their defensive prerssure was too much for Boulder City to over come. Guard Joseph Noel has 2 more 3 Point Baskets, & Forward Dante Roberson who finished with 5 steals for the game had 4 in the 4th Quarter alone.
Guard - Joseph Noel finished with 19 points, with 5 3-Point Makes
Guard - Mahshad Jordan finished with 9 Points, 10 Assists, & 4 Steals
Guard - Waco Pedroza finished with 9 Points, with 3-Point Makes
Center - Rashad Moore finished with 8 Points & 10 Rebounds (7 in the 1st half)
The Spartans finished with 22 Steals & Forced a Total of 38 Turnovers by Boulder City with their pressure defense.
After the game Coach Shkorupa had this to say about his team, "we had an amazing practice yesterday that translated into tonights game. The team effort across the board was unbelievable. The Boys played their hearts out tonight. We've had some setbacks after half time, but tonight our guys were locked in & dominated".
