The crowd at Saturday's non-league bout between the Gaston Day Spartans (Gastonia, NC) and the host Mallard Creek Mavericks (Charlotte, NC), saw Gaston Day's volleyball squad nip Mallard Creek by a tally of 2-1.

With the win, Gaston Day upgrades its record to 10-3 on the year. The Spartans travel to Chapel Hill (Chapel Hill, NC) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Saturday, August 18. The Tigers go into the bout with a record of 2-0. Chapel Hill won 3-0 in their recent non-league bout against Holly Springs (Holly Springs, NC)

The Mavericks now own a 3-3 record. They play next when they travel to Phillip O. Berry Academy of Technology for a non-league bout on Tuesday, August 21.
