October 11, 2018: DeMotte, IN 46310 The crowd at Thursday's non-league bout between the Covenant Christian Knights (DeMotte, IN) and the visiting Caston Comets (Fulton, IN), saw Covenant Christian's volleyball squad beat Caston by a tally of 3-0.
With the win, Covenant Christian upgrades its record to 11-14 on the year. The Knights travel to Pioneer (Royal Center, IN) to play the Panthers in a non-league bout on Saturday, October 13. The Panthers go into the bout with a record of 25-9. Pioneer won 3-0 in their recent non-league bout against North White (Monon, IN)
The Comets now own a 1-23 record.
Match Summary
Game one sectional win! The Lady Knights captured their first sectional game win in 6 years on Thursday night against Caston. The Knights started off slow in game one with poor passing but managed to keep their heads in the game and secure the win with a score of 28-26. In set two, serving set the Knights up for success in spite of Caston's fans who were right behind the serving line trying to get under their skin. Set three started off a bit on the slow side, but halfway through the game the girls had a good run of plays that pushed them back into control of the game with consistency, hustle, and teamwork. Kate Klomp had an excellent night, especially in sets 2 and 3. She led the team in both aces and kills for the night. Final scores in set 2 and 3 were 25-12 and 25-21.
