Game Summary
Congratulations to the Carlsbad Lancers for winning their third consecutive Avocado West Title. The La Costa Canyon Mavericks needed a victory tonight to have a chance to take the title themselves. LCC got the scoring started when Megan Grant threaded the needle to Erika Arkans who nicely finished to put the Mavs up 1 nil. Carlsbad was able to put one in the net when a pin balling futbol found the foot of Caitlyn McCarthy who finished to make it a 1-1 match. Not enough can be said about the frenzied pace these two teams played with tonight. The second half was classic with two great teams battling it out on the pitch. Yet, in the end, it was a cool, calm Keira Dagy who put the "W" on the Lancers record. In the final minute of the game Dagy found herself in a 1 on 1 match-up with LCC keeper Staci Burland. Burland made a charge and Dagy calmly chipped the ball from 30 yards out and, in what seemed like slow motion, the ball slowly made it's way into the net. CARLSBAD CHAMPS!
