Michigan High School Baseball - Lincoln Park loses to Woodhaven
May 20, 2013: Brownstown, MI 48134 In Monday's league game, the host Woodhaven Warriors baseball team scored a tight 6-3 victory over the Lincoln Park Railsplitters.
The Warriors (15-8) will now prepare for their game against Kennedy (Taylor, MI). The Eagles go into the Downriver game with a 18-7 record. In their last game, Kennedy tipped Truman (Taylor, MI), 5-3, in a league game.
The Railsplitters (3-10) will now prepare for their game against Allen Park (Allen Park, MI). The Jaguars go into the Downriver game with a 19-11 record. In their last game, Allen Park tipped Roosevelt (Wyandotte, MI), 5-4, in a league game.
Game Summary
The Warriors rode the arm and bat of Layne Gusler as they defeated Lincoln Park 6-3 to keep their hopes alive for the Downriver title. Layne went the complete game scattering six hits while striking out nine batters. He also was the big hitter for the Warriors with a double and a homerun. He kncked in three runs and scored three himself. His two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth broke open a 3-1 game.
