Michigan High School Baseball - Melvindale loses to Anderson
May 20, 2013: Melvindale, MI 48122 In Monday's league game, the visiting Anderson Titans baseball team scored a tight 6-0 victory over the Melvindale Cardinals.
The Titans (18-9) will now prepare for their game against Roosevelt (Wyandotte, MI). The Bears go into the Downriver game with a 6-10 record. In their last game, Roosevelt was overwhelmed by Allen Park (Allen Park, MI), 5-4, in a league contest.
The Cardinals now sport a 5-10 record. They play next when they travel to Truman for a Downriver contest on Tuesday, May 21. Melvindale will encounter a Cougars squad coming off a 5-3 league loss to Kennedy (Taylor, MI). The Cougars record now stands at 13-12.
Game Summary
An outstanding effort by Tyler Hall hoisted the Southgate Anderson Titans to a 6-0 win in seven innings over Melvindale on Monday.
The Southgate Anderson Titans' Hall kept Melvindale off the scoreboard for all seven innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on two hits while ringing up eight.
Five runs in the opening three innings allowed the Southgate Anderson Titans to easily put away Melvindale. A groundout by Shane Freitag and an RBI double by Greg Galetto during the first inning and a passed ball and an RBI single by Gabe Becker in the second inning fueled the Southgate Anderson Titans' offense early.
The Southgate Anderson Titans brought home one run in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fifth. In the third, the Southgate Anderson Titans scored on an RBI single by Kyle Riddle, bringing home Brian O'Hara.
