Northwest Vikings (Grand Island, NE) backers were pleased Saturday as they saw their basketball squad knock off the host York Dukes (York, NE), 47-36 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Northwest upgrades its record to 8-9 on the campaign. The Vikings travel to Hastings (Hastings, NE) to play the Tigers in a B District 6 bout on Tuesday, February 1. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 7-9. Hastings lost 41-18 in their recent non-league bout against Skutt Catholic (Omaha, NE)

Coming up next, the Dukes confront the Holdrege Dusters (Holdrege, NE) in a non-league battle, on Friday, February 4. York will attempt to improve on its 15-4 season record. The Dusters come into the battle with a 8-10 record after their 32-26 non-league win over Lakeview (Columbus, NE).
