California High School Baseball - Trona loses to Kern Valley
March 31, 2009: Lake Isabella, CA 93240 In Tuesday's non-league game, the host Kern Valley Broncs baseball team scored a nice 20-0 victory over the Trona Tornadoes.
The Broncs (10-3) will now prepare for their game against Villanova Prep (Ojai, CA). The Wildcats go into the non-league game with a 4-7 record.
The Tornadoes (3-5) will now prepare for their game against California City (California City, CA). The go into the non-league game with a 0-3 record. In their last game, California City was overwhelmed by Lone Pine (Lone Pine, CA), 5-2, in a non-league game.
Game Summary
Trona was over powered by the Kern Valley bat giving up 20 runs to 18 hits. Junior Troy Foster started the game and pitched 2 and one third innings. He was replaced by freshman pitcher Zane Foster who pitched 1 and two thirds innings. Return of Junior center fielder Paul Gonzalez proved tobe a hihg point on the day as he limited out field errors and was effective in center field posting 3 of the 12 Kern Valley outs. Errors again plagued Trona and only three Trona batters reached first base, Troy Foster, Paul Gonzalez, and Chris Schimpf all had singles in the game. Trona had one runner in scoring position in the top of the fifth but failed to get over.
Trona next faces Cal City at home this Thursday at 3:15.
