Maine High School Volleyball - Jonesport-Beals can't hold off Yarmouth
September 23, 2011: Jonesport, ME 04649 In Friday's league battle, the visiting Yarmouth Clippers volleyball team scored a tight 3-2 triumph over the Jonesport-Beals Royals.
The Clippers (4-3) will now prepare for their battle against Sumner (East Sullivan, ME). The Tigers come into the Class B battle with a 0-6 record. In their last battle, Sumner was edged by Bucksport (Bucksport, ME), 3-0, in a league battle.
Next, the Royals clash with the Woodland Dragons (Baileyville, ME) in a Class B battle, on Monday, September 26. Jonesport-Beals will attempt to advance on its 4-3 season record. The Dragons come into the battle with a 3-5 record after their 3-0 league loss to Machias (Machias, ME).
Match Summary
The Clippers had a very successful road trip, as they headed "downeast" to play three matches in two days. In match 1, they defeated the Royals of Jonesport Beals in a tough 5 game match. (25-17, 25-13, 21-25, 21-25, 15-8). Yarmouth completed the sweep on Saturday defeating the Tigers of Sumner High 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, and 28-26), and the Machias Bulldogs 3-0 (25-17, 25-19). The wins moved the Clippers temporarily up to 1st place in the standings for Class B.
