Florida High School Baseball - Freedom loses to Sickles
March 11, 2011: Tampa, FL 33647 In Friday's league game, the visiting Sickles Gryphons baseball team scored a tight 5-1 victory over the Freedom Patriots.
The Gryphons (3-5) will now prepare for their game against Chamberlain (Tampa, FL). The Chiefs go into the 5A District 9 game with a 0-8 record. In their last game, Chamberlain was overwhelmed by King (Tampa, FL), 10-4, in a league game.
The Patriots (6-3) will now prepare for their game against Hillsborough (Tampa, FL). The Terriers go into the 5A District 9 game with a 3-8 record. In their last game, Hillsborough was overwhelmed by Wharton (Tampa, FL), 12-0, in a non-league game.
Game Summary
Manny Coto pitched a gem for the Sickles Gryphons, holding Freedom to one run on 8 hits in a complete game victory. He was backed by errorless defense by the Gryphons and a hit attack lead by freshman Alex DeGracia who had a double, triple and two RBIs. Ivan Perez also had a great night at the plate hitting from the number two slot with three hits and one RBI. Jay Carroll, and Kyle Shindler both doubled for Freedom, with Shindler's hit producing the only run for Freedom. Next up, both teams have away games on Tuesday the 15th at 7:00PM, Sickles at Chamberlain and Freedom at Hillsborough.
